Day 6

Day 6,

Our Olympic journey has been a worldwind. Sorry very little access to computers so little opportunity to publish.

The Olympic expereince is amazing. We spend much of the day in transit on trains among the Italian Alps or buses traversing the beautiful mountains. The competition is impressive, the Italian culture is fascinating but the most rewarding part of the odyssey is meeting people from all over the world. We have made good friends from Nederlands, Germany, Canada, et al. The Italians almost always are very friendly and very eager to help despite my fractured Italian. The last two days we sat or stood near groups of Italian kids who showed enormous enthusiasm for the competitors. For a while Italy was first and second in the luge and we joined them in cheering I-tal-ia! An Austrian and a German dimished their enthusiasm somewhat by earning gold and silver but their pride was contagious.
